Fighting games: How do the popular franchises differ from each other?

Post by ZhakirSetie »

Looking to get into fighting games, so I would like to hear the thoughts of veteran players of the genre.

Please share your knowledge of makes each franchise unique and appealing. Franchises that picqued my curiousity are Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Tekken, King of Fighters and Soul Calibur, but feel free to suggest your favorite.

As a beginner I do not yet know for sure what kind of gameplay I would enjoy the most even if I may have some starting preferences. I think I would enjoy a game that is *relatively closer* to real life:

Little to no supernatural powers https://nox.tips/ https://xender.vip/
Fewer unstoppable combos

No double jumps or aerial fighting

Basic punches, kicks and some grappling decide the fight

Distance management and timing play a key role

Other features I look for are a thriving online community, memorable characters and storylines, and well balanced fighters.

I'm a PC player and plan to use the keyboard.
